Once upon a time, there was a girl named Harper. She had a rare musical talent. She heard songs in the wind, rhythms in the rain, and hopes in the flutter of a butterfly's wings. Harper could play any musical instrument she picked up without ever learning a single note. Sometimes late at night, when Harper was alone with her cat Coal, she would hear a melody that almost made her heart stop with joy.

THE BROKEN UMBRELLA
From the fourteenth floor of the Highrise Apartment, Harper gazed at Cloud City as if in a dream. Trams rumbled through the pouring rain, while bright umbrellas bobbed up and down like small boats.
"Darling, I'm leaving for the Dutch Opera in exactly ten minutes," said Great Aunt Sassy, sewing a pink petticoat into her dazzling dress.
"They're coming to pick me up by helicopter."
Harper, smelling lavender, smiled and wrapped her arms around Great Aunt Sassy's ample waist…
